Do we like Mondelez?
Global snack maker (Oreo, Cadbury, Toblerone, Milka) based in Chicago, US.
Our score: 4 out of 10. Huge chocolate and biscuit maker with a cocoa-sourcing program, but it faces claims its sustainability labels overstate things. We'd hold off.
Mondelez is the company behind Oreo, Cadbury and Toblerone. Dirk Van de Put has been CEO since November 2017 and chair since April 2018. His April 2026 shareholder letter called 2025 a year of strength and transition.
Its big green pitch is Cocoa Life, which started in 2012. The company has said it will put in another $600m by 2030.
In August 2024 a proposed class action under Illinois consumer law challenged the Cocoa Life logo on products like Oreos, Toblerone and Cadbury. The plaintiffs argue the products are not responsibly sourced or sustainable. We didn't find how the case ended.
Van de Put also became chairman of AB InBev in June 2026 while staying at Mondelez, according to Just Food. In February 2026 the WSJ reported he said many worries about processed food rest on correlation rather than causation. Overall we're unconvinced, so it's a 4.
