Do we like Louis Vuitton?
French luxury fashion house known for leather goods, bags and fashion, based in Paris; the flagship brand of LVMH.
Our score: 4 out of 10. A hugely successful luxury name, but with recent fines for money-laundering checks and data protection. We'd hold off on backing it.
Louis Vuitton is the biggest brand in LVMH, the luxury group run by Bernard Arnault. Pietro Beccari has been its CEO since February 2023. From January 2026 he also runs the whole LVMH Fashion Group, so he now has two jobs.
In February 2026 Dutch prosecutors fined Louis Vuitton's Dutch unit €500,000. They said it failed to properly check customer identities under anti-money-laundering law. The fine is linked to a wider criminal case involving three suspects.
On data, one report says French regulators fined LVMH brands €25 million in total, with Louis Vuitton taking €20 million. That came from a single source. Separately, Louis Vuitton North America was reported to be under US scrutiny over how it handled a data breach.
Next door at Dior, a Milan court put LVMH's Manufactures Dior under judicial administration in 2024 over labour exploitation at subcontractors. That is Dior, not Vuitton, but it shows the supply-chain risk across the group. We'd want to see better supplier checks.
