Do we like Levi's?
Makes Levi's jeans and denim clothing, sold in shops and online worldwide; based in San Francisco, US.
Our score: 5 out of 10. Iconic brand with decent climate goals, but a live Dutch court case over a Turkish supplier's treatment of workers keeps us at mixed.
Levi's is the classic American jeans brand. Michelle Gass, who came over from Kohl's, took over as CEO in January 2024 from Chip Bergh. She's pushing international growth and selling more directly to shoppers.
The big drama now is in the Netherlands. In April 2026 the Clean Clothes Campaign and four consumers sued Levi's in Amsterdam. They say it misled buyers about ethical production, citing a Turkish factory, Özak Tekstil.
Campaigners say more than 400 workers lost their jobs there after striking and joining a union. They say hundreds are still waiting for compensation. The Worker Rights Consortium found the factory broke Turkish law and Levi's own supplier code. No hearing date was set.
On climate, Levi's is attacked from the other side too. A conservative group wants to challenge its net-zero target. Levi's says its plan fits a 1.5°C path. We land in the middle: a famous brand with an unresolved labour question.
