Do we like Jollibee Foods?
Fast-food group behind Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Smashburger, Coffee Bean and Tim Ho Wan. Based in the Philippines.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A big global food group with real reach. Its labour record is the worry: a 2018 order to regularise thousands of contract workers, plus a US labour complaint and a data breach probe. We'd hold back.
Jollibee Foods is the Philippines' fast-food giant. It owns Jollibee, Chowking, Smashburger and Tim Ho Wan. It's listed on the stock exchange. It reported 2025 net income of 10.87 billion pesos and is still opening stores in the US.
The big drama was in 2018. The Philippine labour department ordered Jollibee to regularise thousands of contract workers (reports say 6,500 or more) and to refund illegally collected payments. Its shares sold off on the news.
Bulatlat reported that Jollibee refused to regularise workers and laid off 400. A Philippine House resolution sought a probe of its labour practices. In the US, the NLRB brought an unfair labour practice complaint against its North American arm over a New Jersey branch.
More recently, the company investigated an alleged data breach said to affect millions of people. In 2026 it's weighing options for listing its international business. We found little on the environment, so our score stays middling.
