Do we like Jacob's Creek?
Australian wine brand from the Barossa Valley, South Australia. Sold worldwide.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A big, familiar wine brand with no regulator fines in what we found. Its ownership has changed, and we found little hard evidence of either harm or good. We'd hold off.
Jacob's Creek is one of Australia's best-known wine exports, made in the Barossa Valley. For years it belonged to French drinks giant Pernod Ricard.
In July 2024 Pernod agreed to sell its international wine brands, Jacob's Creek among them, to Australian Wine Holdco, the owner of Accolade Wines. Pernod said it wanted to focus on spirits and Champagne.
The sale worried staff. The Drinks Business covered a July 2024 strike at the Barossa site over concern for jobs.
On the green side, Pernod's Australian wine arm said in 2019 that it had moved to 100% renewable electricity. That is the company's own claim. We found no fines or big scandals, so we land in the middle.
