Do we like Infosys?
IT services and consulting giant, based in Bengaluru, India; serves clients worldwide.
Our score: 6 out of 10. A big, established IT firm with a decent record on climate and giving. Past visa and data-breach settlements keep it from a higher score. We'd back it, with some caution.
Infosys is one of India's biggest IT outsourcing firms. It's run from Bengaluru and chaired by co-founder Nandan Nilekani. Salil Parekh has been CEO for nine years, and the board has now picked insider Ashiss Kumar Dash to take over in April 2027.
The legal history is mostly about US visas. Infosys paid $1M to New York in 2017 and $800,000 to California in 2019 over visa and worker-classification claims. It denied wrongdoing in the California case. It had earlier paid $34M to settle claims brought by the US Department of Justice.
On data, its US unit Infosys McCamish Systems agreed in 2025 to a $17.5M settlement of class actions over a 2023 breach. The deal needed court approval, and Infosys said it wasn't admitting liability.
On the good side, Infosys says it became carbon neutral in 2020 and has an ESG Vision 2030. That claim relies partly on offsets. Its foundations say they spend more than $55M a year on community projects. Overall we'd say it's decent, not a standout.
