Do we like Heinz (Kraft Heinz)?
Ketchup, sauces, and packaged foods maker. The Kraft Heinz Co. is based in Chicago and Pittsburgh, USA.
Our score: 5 out of 10. Mixed. The brands are familiar and most legal trouble is about labeling and investors, not safety. I found little evidence of strong good deeds, so we'd hold back.
Heinz is now part of The Kraft Heinz Co., formed by the 2015 merger of Kraft and Heinz. The merger is the root of a big investor lawsuit.
Kraft Heinz agreed to pay $450 million to settle a securities class action over the merger. It denies any wrongdoing.
On labeling, a federal judge approved a $16 million settlement over Maxwell House and Yuban coffee. The company also agreed to settle a suit claiming MiO was wrongly labeled as naturally flavored.
On safety, Kraft Heinz recalled Capri Sun pouches after cleaning solution mixed with the juice. A 2025 class action accuses it of not disclosing possible listeria contamination in Oscar Mayer turkey bacon. That is only an allegation.
