Do we like HCLTech?

IT services and engineering company based in Noida, India, serving clients worldwide.

Our score: 5 out of 10. Mixed. It's a big, established IT firm, but the searches turned up US hiring-bias and H-1B pay allegations and a client lawsuit. We found little on its environmental or good-deed record.

HCLTech is a big Indian IT services firm. C Vijayakumar has been CEO since 2016 and has been with the company about three decades. The board reappointed him to run until March 2030, subject to shareholder approval.

The legal record is mixed. Workers sued, alleging HCL favoured South Asian and Indian staff, and Bloomberg Law reported that they settled. Separately, the Economic Policy Institute, as reported by ITPro, said a whistleblower suit accused HCL of underpaying H-1B workers by $95 million a year. That is an accusation only.

In 2017 brewer MillerCoors sued HCL over a troubled SAP project, in a case reportedly worth about $100 million. HCL said the client relationship continued. Later HCL itself sued Atos over copyright, but suing a rival isn't good or bad in itself. We give it a middling 5.
