Do we like Hasbro?
Toy, board game and trading card maker (Monopoly, Transformers, Magic: The Gathering), based in the US.
Our score: 6 out of 10. A big, mostly decent toy maker with real climate and ethics commitments. The 2026 cyberattack and the employee data lawsuit hold the score back, so we'd back it with some caution.
Hasbro makes some of the best-known games and toys in the world: Monopoly, Transformers and Magic: The Gathering. In 2026 it has been pushing big licensing deals, including Zelda toys and a Legendary partnership tied to the Street Fighter film. Reports say Magic is driving the profits.
The big drama this year was a cyberattack. Hasbro told the SEC it found unauthorised network access on 28 March 2026 and took some systems offline. It said the cost was about $20m in one-off costs, with $40–60m of Q2 revenue pushed into the second half.
A class action followed in Rhode Island in April 2026, brought for current and former employees. It alleges negligence and invasion of privacy, among other claims. Those are allegations, not findings. Hasbro also filed breach notices saying personal and financial data may have been accessed.
On the planet side, Hasbro committed to science-based targets: net zero across its value chain by 2050, and a 47.5% cut in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. It has also pledged to move toys to recycled or renewable materials by 2033. Its toys are still plastic, though.
