Do we like Gymshark?

Fitness apparel and accessories brand selling mainly online, based in Solihull, England.

Our score: 5 out of 10. A British success story, but supply-chain worker-rights questions and a 'Not Good Enough' rating from Good On You keep us at mixed. We'd back it cautiously.

Gymshark is a British fitness-wear brand that grew online. Founder Ben Francis still owns most of it. In 2020 US firm General Atlantic invested £200m for about 21%, valuing the company at over £1bn.

In July 2026 the Financial Times reported that Francis is in talks to buy back part of General Atlantic's stake. We found no confirmed deal.

The main criticism is about its supply chain. In 2024 the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre raised worker retrenchment at Mactan Apparel in Cebu, Philippines. Gymshark said its Taiwanese supplier SCI told it the retrenchment followed local rules.

Gymshark says it launched its own factory audit standard in 2023 and will only use A or B rated factories. It also aimed for Fair Labor Association accreditation. Good On You still rates it 'Not Good Enough' and says there's no evidence of living wages. That's why we land in the middle.
