Do we like Gillette?
Razors and shaving products brand, based in Boston, USA. It is a division of Procter & Gamble.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A solid, familiar product from a huge parent. Our search found no big recent scandal and no standout good deeds, so we'd back it only with mixed feelings.
Gillette is the classic razor brand, now one of the many household names under Procter & Gamble, the giant that also sells Tide and Pampers.
The top job at P&G is held by Jon Moeller. He was elected CEO in July 2021 and took over that November. He has also been chair since 2022.
The legal record we found is mostly about advertising claims. Gillette reportedly paid $7.5 million to settle claims about its M3 Power razor. It also fought a long run of courtroom battles with rival Schick, and most of those settled in 2006.
Our searches turned up nothing recent on fines, privacy, tax or the environment. So we're giving a middling score. It's a fine product from a big company, and we couldn't show it's much better or worse than that.
