Do we like Games Workshop?

Makes Warhammer miniatures, paints and games, and sells them through its own shops and stockists. Based in Nottingham, UK.

Our score: 6 out of 10. A well-run, loved hobby business that looks after its staff and keeps AI out of its design work. Fan-content fights and rising prices hold it back. We'd lean towards backing it.

Games Workshop is the Nottingham company behind Warhammer, the tabletop miniatures hobby. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange. Kevin Rountree is the CEO, and he called the year to May 2026 a record one with the hobby 'in great shape'.

The numbers are big. Revenue for the 52 weeks to 31 May 2026 rose about 10.9% to £659.7m, and operating profit was £275.0m. Licensing income fell, from £52.5m to £32.9m. An Amazon MGM live-action project is still in development.

On people, Fortune reported in 2024 that GW gave its staff bonuses of about $8,600 each after a sales surge. In January 2026 it said it bans AI-generated content in its design process, though some fans question whether it follows that in practice.

The sore spot is the community. Commentary in the results says GW has been to court before to protect its IP against makers of compatible parts, and its relationship with fans has been 'tumultuous', with price hikes a regular gripe. We found no big regulatory scandal. We give it a 6.
