Do we like Funko?
Maker of Pop! vinyl collectible figures and pop-culture merchandise, based in Everett, Washington, USA.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A fun, well-licensed brand that's been through a rough patch. It has shaky finances and settled shareholder suits, but it makes harmless products and is recovering. We'd back it only cautiously.
Funko makes the big-headed Pop! vinyl figures you see everywhere, from Marvel to anime. It's based in Everett, Washington. In 2025 it hired Josh Simon, a former Netflix consumer products executive, as CEO after a weak quarter.
2025 was rough. Funko said it would cut about 20% of its global workforce as tariffs raised costs. It expected roughly $40M of tariff expenses, raised US prices and shifted production from China to Vietnam and elsewhere.
There's also legal baggage. Law360 reported Funko would pay $5.4M to settle a Delaware stockholder suit. It also agreed to pay about $2.1M in legal fees to settle derivative suits over alleged misleading statements by its ex-CEO and others.
2026 looks calmer. A press release said Q1 net sales grew 5% with its highest reported gross margin, and the full-year outlook was reiterated. Still, it's a recovery story, so we're lukewarm and score it a 5.
