Do we like Fenty Beauty?
Makeup and skincare brand launched by Rihanna in 2017, known for wide shade ranges. Run via LVMH's Kendo.
Our score: 6 out of 10. A popular brand that pushed shade inclusivity, with no big scandals of its own that we found. Its ownership may change, and our searches turned up little on workers, environment or tax.
Fenty Beauty is Rihanna's makeup line, run with LVMH's beauty incubator Kendo Brands. Reuters reported in October 2025 that she and LVMH each own half, and that LVMH was exploring a sale of its stake, with Evercore advising. Neither side commented.
Reuters said the brand made about $450 million in net sales in 2024. Sources put its value at somewhere between $1 billion and $2 billion. LVMH has been selling other beauty brands too, including KVD Beauty.
On the legal side, a legally blind customer sued in 2019 saying the Fenty Beauty website wasn't fully accessible. She sought an injunction and about $15,000, and we found no outcome. Rihanna also sued her father over use of the Fenty name.
Don't mix it up with Savage X Fenty, the lingerie company. Prosecutors in California said it had to pay $1.2 million for misleading customers over automatic membership charges. That's a separate business from the makeup brand.
