Do we like Comcast?
US cable, broadband (Xfinity), media and theme parks group (NBCUniversal, Sky), based in Philadelphia.
Our score: 4 out of 10. Not one we'd back with our money. It has a weak record on data security and customer billing, and the searches turned up little to offset that.
Comcast is the Philadelphia cable giant behind Xfinity internet and NBCUniversal. Brian Roberts has run it since 2002, when he took over from his father. From January 2026 Mike Cavanagh joined him as co-CEO, with Roberts staying as chairman.
The big black mark is security. Comcast said attackers got in through a Citrix flaw in October 2023. Its filing with Maine's attorney general put the count at almost 35.8 million customers.
Comcast agreed to a $117.5 million class-action settlement over that breach. Its settlement papers deny the allegations, according to the reports we found.
The FCC also reached a $1.5 million settlement after a breach at a former debt-collection vendor exposed data on over 237,000 subscribers. The FCC found Comcast hadn't kept proper oversight of the vendor and was slow to notify customers. Comcast now has to run regular vendor risk assessments.
Our score is 4 out of 10. We found repeated regulator trouble over customer data and billing. The searches turned up little good to set against it.
