Do we like Chrysler?

American car brand (Pacifica minivan, 300) based in Auburn Hills, Michigan; part of Stellantis.

Our score: 4 out of 10. A shrinking brand with a thin lineup and a history of recall fines. We wouldn't back it with our money on the evidence we found.

Chrysler is now one brand inside Stellantis. Stellantis was formed from the Fiat Chrysler and PSA merger. In 2026 Matt McAlear, already CEO of Dodge, was reported to have taken on the Chrysler brand too after Christine Feuell left.

The lineup is thin. A refreshed 2027 Pacifica opened for orders in March 2026 and was shown at the New York auto show. One Mopar Insiders snippet says suppliers were told to pause a planned Chrysler crossover. The snippet gave no date.

The big black mark we found is old. In 2015 NHTSA fined Fiat Chrysler a record $105m over how it handled 23 recalls covering 11 million vehicles. The company also agreed to buy back about half a million Ram trucks and accept an independent monitor.

Our verdict is a middling-to-low score. We found no fresh scandal. But the safety record is poor, the brand has little direction, and we found little good done beyond making cars.
