Do we like Boost Juice?
Juice, smoothie and drinks chain, mostly franchised, run by Retail Zoo. Based in Australia (Brisbane).
Our score: 6 out of 10. A well-run, big Aussie franchise with no enforcement action we could find, but private-equity ownership and thin recent detail mean we'd only back it cautiously.
Boost Juice grew out of Retail Zoo, which Janine Allis co-founded. It is now a big franchise network of juice and smoothie bars. Allis is still on the board, according to the search summary.
Ownership has moved to private equity. A Fair Work Ombudsman report said Retail Zoo was wholly owned by Roar Bidco, which Bain Capital wholly owned. A later snippet said Bain was selling to Adamantem. We haven't confirmed that sale.
On pay, Retail Zoo signed a compliance partnership with the Fair Work Ombudsman. The regulator's November 2018 release was headed 'Improved compliance for food franchisor'. Franchising and wages are a risky mix, so that's a plus.
We found no Fair Work, ACCC or court action against Boost Juice itself. The wage cases that came up were against other juice shops. A UK tribunal claim against Boost Juice Bars Ltd was listed in 2026, with no outcome shown. That's why it gets a middling-positive score.
