Do we like Bandai Namco?
Japanese maker of toys (Gundam kits), video games (Elden Ring publisher, Tekken, Pac-Man) and entertainment; based in Tokyo.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A hugely successful toy and games group with a mostly ordinary record. Reported 'expulsion rooms', factory-audit concerns and repeated internal fraud keep us from backing it warmly.
Bandai Namco is the Japanese giant behind Gundam model kits, Tekken, Pac-Man and Elden Ring publishing. For the year to March 2026 it reported record sales of about 1.35 trillion yen, per financial news summaries.
In 2026 it reorganised its subsidiaries. Sony agreed to a partnership and to buy about a 2.5% stake. Nintendo agreed to acquire its Singapore studio.
On the shadier side, PC Gamer reported claims that about 200 staff were moved into 'expulsion rooms' to push them to quit. The company maintains its innocence.
It has also been hit by insider fraud. Anime News Network reported it sued a former employee over about 600 million yen of mobile devices. Automaton reported a roughly $3.4m embezzlement at its Hong Kong unit, with executives penalised.
Overall, it's a strong business with an average ethical record, so it gets a middle score.
