Do we like Aston Martin?
British luxury sports car maker (Aston Martin Lagonda), based in Gaydon, England; also backs an F1 team.
Our score: 3 out of 10. We wouldn't back them now. Losses are widening, they're cutting jobs, and the record has a few blemishes. Their harm is modest, but the case for backing them is thin.
Aston Martin is the British luxury sports car maker, now led by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll. He also owns its Formula 1 team, and the 2026 season has been tough on track so far.
The money side is rough. Pre-tax losses for 2025 were £363.9m, up from £289.1m the year before. The company blamed US tariffs and weak demand, and it confirmed plans to cut up to 20% of its workforce, nearly 600 jobs, to save about £40m.
There have been dramas too. The European Environment Agency said Aston Martin Lagonda exceeded its emissions targets and owed a premium (about €33,000 estimated). Another row came when the company was accused of using a 'sockpuppet' PR firm to push a report against EVs, and it launched an internal inquiry.
So we land low. It's a famous brand, but it keeps losing money and is cutting staff, and the record has a few blemishes. We wouldn't put our money in right now.
