Do we like Anheuser-Busch InBev?
World's largest brewer (Budweiser, Corona, Stella Artois, Michelob Ultra), based in Leuven, Belgium.
Our score: 4 out of 10. A giant brewer with a record of repeat air-pollution penalties. We found little evidence of offsetting good, so we'd be lukewarm about backing them.
AB InBev is the huge brewer behind Budweiser and Corona. Michel Doukeris has been CEO since 2021, when he succeeded Carlos Brito. In March 2026 the company announced that chair Martin Barrington would retire from the board after the April 2026 shareholder meeting, because of the age-70 rule.
The Bay Area Air District announced a $2.3 million penalty in March 2026 over the Fairfield, California brewery. It cited elevated emissions and wrongly installed or operated emissions monitoring. The company said in December 2025 that it would close three US breweries, Fairfield among them.
It's not the first time. In 2023 the US EPA settled with the company for $537,000 over chemical accident rules, after a 2018 ammonia leak in Fort Collins, Colorado injured two workers. The company also had to run a safety review of its ammonia breweries. In 2018 California's Air Resources Board took $500,000 over diesel truck inspections.
Overall, we see a pattern of compliance slips at US plants, and we found little in our searches to weigh against it. That puts them in the middle-to-low range for us.
