Do we like Airtasker?

Online marketplace connecting people who need jobs done with local workers; based in Sydney, Australia, listed on the ASX.

Our score: 5 out of 10. A real marketplace that gives people paid work, but it has had gig-economy and advertising criticism and our search found no recent clean bill of health. We'd back it with caution.

Airtasker is a Sydney marketplace where people post jobs and others bid to do them. Tim Fung is the founder and CEO. It listed on the ASX in March 2021 at $0.65 a share, raising $83.7 million.

The listing day was delayed by one day. The search summary put this down to "human error and oversight" at the exchange. A bit embarrassing, but it wasn't Airtasker's doing.

Since then it has pushed into the UK and US. In November 2025 it was reported to have raised another $10 million. In February 2025 Cass O'Connor was set to become chair, replacing James Spenceley.

On the downside, SmartCompany reported a consumer advocate slamming its claim that users can earn "up to $20,000 a month". In 2018 it said a small amount of form data may have been caught up in the Typeform breach.

We found no fine or court penalty against the company itself, but our search was thin. That gives it a middling score.
