Do we like Accenture?
Global IT consulting and professional services firm, run from Dublin, Ireland, with about $70bn in revenue.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A huge, competent consultancy. The search results we got back show big layoffs and some disputes but no fine. We'd back it with mixed feelings.
Accenture is one of the world's biggest consultancies, with about $69.7bn in revenue in fiscal 2025. Julie Sweet, a former Cravath lawyer, has been CEO since 2019 and chair since 2021, according to the profile coverage we found.
Sweet has merged five business units into one called Reinvention Services. The coverage puts the restructuring at $923 million. She calls it a strategic imperative rather than cost-cutting. AI use is now also a formal requirement for promotion.
Layoffs are the main source of drama. Forbes Chile reported a plan to cut about 19,000 jobs in 2023. Tribune India reports more than 11,000 cuts under an $865m restructuring tied to AI.
Business Post reported that Accenture was accused of aggressively targeting its Irish operation in a plan to cut 890 jobs. In India, a union complained to a labour commissioner about forced resignations, and Accenture said the cuts came from its annual performance review.
