Do we like Cody Jones?
Our score: 6 out of 10. No harmful words or acts found and a clean public run, but too little reliable reporting on him personally to score higher.
Cody Jones is the Tall Guy of Dude Perfect, born in Plano, Texas, in 1987. He grew up going to church every Sunday, and he played on a high school basketball team that won the Texas Class 5A state title in 2005-06.
At Texas A&M he studied finance and real estate. He met the Cotton twins playing hoops at the rec centre, and they invited him to be the fifth roommate in their house. That house became the Dude Perfect crew, and the trick-shot videos took off from 2009.
Jones has a bit of a redemption-arc line in the group's About Us video. He says that near the end of high school and the start of college he “strayed from the Lord” and chased basketball and girls. That's a faith story in his own words, and faith alone is no strike against anyone here.
On the harm check, we found nothing: no reported comments from him about LGBTQ+ or trans people, women, migrants, vaccines or the climate, and no political endorsements. That's an absence of evidence, not a clean bill of health. We also couldn't read enough about the group's recent partners to check the company he keeps.
On the good-person side, there's no reporting of court cases, allegations or bad behaviour tied to him personally. The group has been hit by a copyright suit over a song and a plagiarism row over a skit, but we couldn't read the details, so we've left them out of his tally. We also couldn't open reliable pages on his own charity work, though the group has hosted Make-A-Wish kids.
Nothing new on him lately that we could confirm. The group's 2026 news is a tour, a kids' book series and a new headquarters, and none of it is about Jones personally.
