Do we like Chris Christie?

Our score: 5 out of 10. A lot of Trump-era backbone on the record, but the Bridgegate cloud and the unchecked gaps keep this in the middle.

Chris Christie is the former Governor of New Jersey. He was a prosecutor before that, and he went from being one of Donald Trump's early Republican backers to one of his loudest critics. That turn is the main reason he's still in the news.

Harm check: we found his own words on immigration and the election. In December 2023 he called Trump's line about immigrants "poisoning the blood" disgusting, and after 2020 he broke with Trump over false claims of a stolen election. In 2015 he said global warming is real. What we couldn't check is his record on LGBTQ+ and trans rights, so we can't call that either way.

The recent stuff is mostly feuding with Trump-world. In August 2025 he criticised Trump on ABC. Trump then threatened on social media to revisit Bridgegate, and Christie has kept calling Trump out since. Whether you cheer that or roll your eyes depends on how much you trust a man who once backed Trump himself.

On the good side, speaking up against a sitting president who threatens you with an investigation takes some nerve. We couldn't verify any charity or kind acts, so we can't list any. The research tools ran into limits, so this is a first look rather than a full file.
