Do we like Zenitsu Agatsuma?
A character from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019–present)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes. He whines and panics, but he keeps showing up for his friends and fights far beyond his own fears. He's a loyal, big-hearted underdog.
Zenitsu is a young trainee in the Demon Slayer Corps, the group that hunts man-eating demons. He first appears as a frightened, whiny recruit. He is convinced he'll die and begs everyone for help. He has an extraordinary sense of hearing and an unshakable bond with the teacher who believed in him.
He is only truly effective when he is unconscious or asleep. Then his body takes over and he uses his one Thunder Breathing form with astonishing speed and precision. Awake, he is a mess. Asleep, he is a prodigy. That contrast is the heart of both the show's humor and his appeal.
He has a good heart, and that's why we back him. He is fiercely loyal to Tanjiro and Inosuke, and his noisy fear never actually stops him from protecting people. A character who is terrified and still goes in anyway is a better kind of brave than one who never feels fear.
