Do we like Vimme Vivaldi?
A character from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015)
Our score: 6 out of 10. A fair-dealing banker who gives Geralt loans, currency exchange and a friendly game of Gwent. We'd back him, but we'd read the small print first.
Vimme Vivaldi runs the Vivaldi Bank branch on Hierarch Square in Novigrad, the largest free city in the North. In The Witcher 3, Geralt of Rivia is hunting for his adopted daughter Ciri across a war-torn continent. Along the way he needs money, and Vimme is where he goes to get it.
For most players Vimme is a service. You can borrow a loan from him and convert foreign currency such as Nilfgaardian florens and Temerian orens into the crowns that merchants will actually accept. He isn't tied to the main plot. He's a steady, practical presence in a city full of zealots, gangsters and spies.
He also plays Gwent. A notice on the Harborside board accuses him of cheating, and beating him at the bank starts the Gwent: Big City Players quest. He plays a Scoia'tael deck, he's among the easier opponents in that questline, and he hands over a unique card when beaten. He comes across as friendly and relaxed about it, which is why he scores a decent 6. He's useful and likeable, but he's a banker with no stake in the story, so he isn't someone you'd follow anywhere.
