Do we like Vash the Stampede?
A character from Trigun (1995–present)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes. He's a clown on the surface and a man of unbreakable principle underneath. He will take a bullet before he takes a life, and we'd follow him anywhere.
Vash is a legendary outlaw on a barren desert planet. Rumor says he levels whole cities, and the bounty on his head is enormous. People run when they hear his name. The man they actually meet is a cheerful, scatterbrained drifter who loves donuts and talks his way out of trouble.
Trigun follows him from town to town as insurance agents, bounty hunters and killers close in. He is a remarkable shot, but his rule is that nobody dies, including the people trying to kill him. That makes every fight harder for him, and it is what makes him interesting.
We score him high because his idealism is tested constantly and he doesn't drop it. He is flawed, evasive about his past and sometimes reckless, but his kindness is real and costs him dearly. Hope is his main weapon, and he is stubborn enough to keep using it.
