Do we like Trinity?

A character from The Matrix (1999-2021)

Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes. She's brave, loyal and very good at her job, and she backs her friends and her cause without hesitating. We'd follow her.

Trinity first appears as a legendary hacker, known in the underground for breaking into systems that seemed impossible to enter. She is second-in-command to Morpheus on his hovercraft crew. They free people from a simulated reality, the Matrix, which intelligent machines built to control humanity.

She is calm, precise and fiercely capable. In the film's opening she moves through the Matrix as if the rules of physics barely apply to her. She is also guarded and cares deeply about the people she trusts. She is the one who first reaches out to Thomas Anderson, a hacker the crew believes may be the key to the war.

She scores a 9 because she is loyal, brave and competent and she believes in the mission. She also takes real risks for others and never treats people as expendable. She loses a point because she is willing to use lethal force and sometimes puts one person above the wider plan. Across the sequels she stays a steady moral anchor for the heroes.
