Do we like Trevor Philips?
A character from Grand Theft Auto V (2013)
Our score: 3 out of 10. Fiercely loyal and darkly funny, but he's so violent and unstable that backing him means signing up for chaos. We'd enjoy him from a very safe distance.
Trevor is one of three playable protagonists in Grand Theft Auto V, set in the sunny, satirical state of San Andreas. He lives in a trailer in Blaine County and runs a gunrunning and drug operation. He's loud, paranoid and prone to sudden explosions of temper, and he's also one of the game's most quotable characters.
His story is bound up with his old criminal partner Michael, and with their shared history of heists and loyalty. Trevor sees the world through those old bonds. He's generous and warm to the people he considers his, and dangerous to nearly everyone else.
We score him a 3. He is charismatic, honest about what he is, and loyal to a fault. But the body count, the cruelty and the sheer unpredictability outweigh the charm, and following him anywhere would be a bad idea.
