Do we like Trafalgar Law?

A character from One Piece (1997–present)

Our score: 7 out of 10. A ruthless-looking schemer with a hidden soft side. He's prickly and secretive, but he keeps his word and fights for people who can't. We'd back him, with one eye open.

Law is introduced as a rookie pirate captain with a bounty, a huge sword, and a reputation for cutting people up, which he does with his strange Devil Fruit power. He is also a trained doctor. He leads the Heart Pirates, who are fiercely loyal to him. He first crosses paths with Luffy's Straw Hats in the Sabaody Archipelago.

He is calm, sarcastic and guarded, and he rarely says what he is planning. Under that cold manner he is a deeply principled man who dislikes cruelty. His long-term goals come from a painful childhood, which the story reveals slowly. That mix of menace and decency makes him one of the series' best-loved characters.

He teams up with Luffy against the warlord Doflamingo, a man he has a long grudge against. Law's hidden motive is tied to his rescuer Corazon, who raised him after his hometown was destroyed. The alliance grows into real trust, and Law keeps fighting alongside the Straw Hats through later arcs.

We give him a 7. He plays his cards close and is not always upfront with his friends, but he does far more good than harm. His loyalty and his skill as a healer make him someone we'd follow.
