Do we like Tiana?
A character from The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes. She's driven, honest and kind underneath the stubbornness, and she learns to enjoy life without giving up her dream. We'd back her.
Tiana grew up in New Orleans, where her father taught her that hard work and good food bring people together. As a grown woman she works two waitressing jobs and saves every penny toward opening her own restaurant. The story is a jazz-age fairy tale with a Louisiana setting, and it starts when a wish on a star pulls her into a magical mess.
Tiana is practical, proud and tireless, and she doesn't believe in wishing alone. Her flaw is that she focuses so hard on the goal that she forgets to live. She is also kind, and she keeps her word, even when that gets in the way of her plans.
A meeting with a charming, penniless prince sends her into the bayou. She has to deal with trouble she never asked for, and she gradually learns that love and friendship matter as much as work. Her determination and decency make her one of Disney's most admirable heroines, and the occasional bossiness and workaholism keep her from a perfect 10.
