Do we like The Xenomorph?
A character from Alien (1979)
Our score: 1 out of 10. No. It's a perfect predator, but it kills the crew without malice or mercy, and we'd happily keep it at the far end of the ship.
In Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien, the crew of the Nostromo is woken from hibernation to investigate a distress signal on a remote moon. An organism comes aboard with them, and a tense, claustrophobic game of cat and mouse begins in the ship's dark corridors.
The creature was designed by H.R. Giger and played in the suit by the 6'10" Bolaji Badejo, who gave it an unsettling, graceful movement. It goes through several life stages, and each one is nasty in its own way. It hunts by stealth and ambush, and it shows no sign of reason or mercy.
It scores a 1 because it's an animal, not a villain with a plan. It has no cruelty to be judged on, but it also has nothing to like. It only wants to survive and spread, and everyone on the ship is in its way. Don't back it.
