Do we like The White Witch?
A character from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950)
Our score: 1 out of 10. No. She rules by fear, freezes her enemies and bribes a child with sweets to get what she wants. Great style, terrible queen.
Jadis calls herself Queen of Narnia and is known as the White Witch. Under her rule it has been winter for a hundred years and Christmas never comes. Four siblings find Narnia through a wardrobe, and she soon notices them.
She is polished, calm and charming when she needs to be. She lures Edmund with Turkish Delight and promises of power. Her kindness is a tool, and her threats are real. Narnia's old prophecy says four humans will end her reign, so she hunts the children.
She scores a 1 because she is cruel by choice and her rule depends on fear. She is also a memorable, commanding villain, which is the only reason she isn't a 0.
