Do we like Stitch?

A character from Lilo & Stitch (2002)

Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He starts out as a small wrecking ball, but he learns what family means and fights for the people who took him in.

Stitch is Experiment 626, an illegal genetic creation made by the scientist Jumba. He is tiny, blue, near-indestructible and very clever, and he was built purely to cause destruction. He escapes alien custody and crash-lands on Hawaii. There Lilo, a lonely and eccentric girl, picks him from an animal shelter, thinking he is a strange dog. Her older sister Nani is struggling to keep the family together.

Stitch is chaotic and destructive at the start. He wrecks the house, causes trouble for Nani and ignores every rule. But he is also curious, funny and fiercely loyal, and Lilo's stubborn kindness slowly gets through to him. We like him because his bad behavior comes from not knowing any better. Nobody ever taught him how to belong.

Alien hunters keep coming after him, and Stitch has to choose between what he was made for and the family he has found. He chooses family. That choice, and how much he is willing to risk for them, is why he scores high.
