Do we like Snow White?

A character from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's gentle, generous and sees the best in everyone. We'd just want to teach her not to take apples from strangers.

Snow White is a young princess who lives under the rule of her vain stepmother, the Queen. The Queen is obsessed with being 'the fairest one of all', so Snow White is made to work as a servant in her own home. The film is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale and was Disney's first full-length animated feature.

Snow White is sweet, optimistic and a little naive. After she flees into the forest, she finds the cottage of seven dwarfs who mine for jewels. She wins them over by cleaning, cooking and singing, and she is warm to everyone she meets, including the woodland animals.

She earns her score for goodness of heart. She forgives easily and never holds a grudge, and she treats her new friends like family. What costs her points is that she is too trusting and takes few steps to protect herself. The dwarfs and the animals do most of the rescuing, and she is mainly a bright, kind presence in their lives.
