Do we like Sauron?
A character from The Lord of the Rings (1954-1955)
Our score: 0 out of 10. Absolutely not. He wants to enslave every free people in Middle-earth, and he is the reason the heroes have to destroy the Ring.
Sauron is the main villain of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. He is a Maia, a lesser spirit of great power, who once served the first Dark Lord, Morgoth. He now rules the land of Mordor from the dark tower of Barad-dûr.
Long ago he poured much of his strength and cruelty into the One Ring, made to control the other Rings of Power and their wearers. He is a looming presence throughout the story, seen mostly through his servants, his armies and the Ring's pull on those who touch it.
He scores zero because everything he does serves domination. He deceives, corrupts and enslaves, and nothing in the story suggests he has any care for the people he rules or threatens.
