Do we like Sakura Haruno?

A character from Naruto (1999-2017)

Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She starts out as the team's weakest link, but she works hard, turns into a top medic and fighter, and stays loyal to her friends.

Sakura is introduced as a bright, studious girl from the Hidden Leaf Village. She is placed on Team 7 with loudmouth Naruto and brooding prodigy Sasuke, under their teacher Kakashi. At first she cares more about impressing Sasuke than about being a good ninja, and she is the least capable of the three.

Her arc is about growing up. She has real strengths from the start: top-class chakra control, intelligence and a stubborn heart. She trains under the legendary healer Tsunade and becomes both a gifted medic and a powerful fighter in her own right. She can be harsh, especially with Naruto, and her early crush makes her less interesting. But her determination wins out and she earns respect.

We score her an 8. Her early flaws are real, but she grows more capable and more selfless, and she is the emotional anchor of Team 7. She keeps trying to bring the team back together when others would give up. Later in the story she becomes a central fighter and healer in the major wars, and she eventually marries Sasuke and has a daughter, Sarada.
