Do we like Saitama?

A character from One-Punch Man (2015)

Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes. He's humble, kind in the ways that count, and shows up when people need him. He's also a lovable slob who gets excited about supermarket sales.

Saitama was an ordinary salaryman who decided to become a hero. He trained with a brutal daily routine until he became so strong that he can defeat any opponent with a single punch. The series follows him as he takes on monsters and villains in a world full of heroes, and plays the contrast between his power and his dull, everyday life for laughs.

His problem is that he's too strong. The thrill of fighting is gone, and he now spends his time hunting for sales and cooking dinner. The Hero Association's ranking system underrates him badly, and the public often credits other heroes or mocks him. He rarely lets it bother him. He takes on the disciple Genos and puts up with his over-the-top devotion, and he is a loyal if lazy friend to the people around him.

He gets a 9 because he's about as dependable as a hero gets. He doesn't gloat, hold grudges or seek power, and he shows up when people need him. He loses a point for his laziness, his indifference to the ranking system, and the occasional lapse of tact with the people around him.
