Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's kind, brave and clever, and she's the team's brains. Her main struggle is believing in herself.

Ami Mizuno is a quiet, top-of-the-class student in Tokyo. Rumor says her IQ is 300. In Sailor Moon, the talking cat Luna finds a group of ordinary girls and awakens them as the Sailor Guardians. Ami is the second to join Usagi, the clumsy heroine Sailor Moon.

Mercury commands water and ice. She uses a visor and a small computer to scan enemies for weaknesses. She isn't the strongest fighter, so she wins by planning, calm and cover fire. She's the team's strategist and often its healer.

Her arc is about confidence. She is shy and lonely, and she feels pressure from her studies and her dream of becoming a doctor. Friendship with Usagi and the others slowly draws her out. She is gentle, loyal and selfless, so she scores high. She loses a point only because she can be self-doubting and sometimes hangs back when the team needs her.
