Do we like Rilakkuma?

Our score: 8 out of 10. Not a go-getter, but he's a gentle, loyal flatmate who makes life softer for everyone. We'd back him, ideally with a nap and a snack.

Rilakkuma is a big, soft bear who lives in the home of Kaoru, an office worker in her twenties. With him are Korilakkuma, a small white bear, and Kiiroitori, a yellow chick. The story began as a San-X character line, and the Netflix stop-motion series follows their quiet daily life together.

Rilakkuma's whole philosophy is to relax. He naps, snacks and tags along on small adventures, while Kaoru deals with work, friendships and the pressures of adult life. He rarely says much and never rushes.

We give him a high score because he is a warm, uncritical presence. He is never cruel, and he helps by simply being there. He loses a few points for contributing very little and leaving Kaoru to carry the load.
