Do we like Remy?
A character from Ratatouille (2007)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He's talented, loyal and brave, and he's honest about the mess he makes. We'd just keep him out of the dining room.
Remy is a young rat in the French countryside with an extraordinary sense of smell and taste. His colony is happy to scavenge garbage, but Remy can't stomach it. He worships the late chef Auguste Gusteau and his motto that anyone can cook.
Circumstances carry him to Paris and into Gusteau's restaurant. There he teams up with Linguini, a clumsy kitchen worker. Remy secretly guides him from under his hat, and the odd partnership gets them both noticed in a very competitive kitchen.
We score him 8. He is driven, creative and kind, and he sticks to his principles even when that costs him. His flaws are real. He can be proud and a bit self-focused, and he's sometimes careless with the people who trust him. He's also a rat in a kitchen, which is a fair worry. But he learns from his mistakes, and what he does is worth backing.
