Do we like R2-D2?

A character from Star Wars (1977)

Our score: 10 out of 10. Yes, without a doubt. He's loyal, brave and resourceful, and he's saved the day more times than most heroes. He's a bit cheeky, but he's always on the right side.

R2-D2 is a small blue-and-white astromech droid. He fixes starships, plugs into computer systems and does it all in beeps and whistles. He first shows up in a galaxy at war, partnered with the fussy protocol droid C-3PO, and he carries a secret message that could change everything.

His personality is the draw. He's stubborn, brave and sometimes sarcastic, and he'll roll off on his own to do what he thinks is right, even against orders. He's also fiercely loyal to the people he serves, from Padmé and Anakin to Luke and Leia.

Across the saga he's the one who gets things done. He unlocks doors, restarts failing hyperdrives, pulls up crucial maps and gets heroes out of impossible spots. He's also a kind friend to the nervous C-3PO. That's why he gets a full 10.
