Do we like Power?

A character from Chainsaw Man (2018)

Our score: 7 out of 10. A selfish, lying menace who is also gleefully loyal. We'd back her, and we'd keep our wallets and snacks well out of reach.

Power is the Blood Fiend, a devil living in a human body. She is recognisable by her short red horns. She first appears in chapter 4 of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga. She works as a Public Safety Devil Hunter alongside Denji and Aki Hayakawa in Makima's special squad. She can shape her blood into weapons and heal by drinking blood.

Her personality is the opposite of obedient: childish, vain, and almost entirely out for her own advantage. She's the 'gremlin' of the group, and she is loud, greedy, and constantly bragging. Her chaos makes her very funny, but she is also hard to work with. That is why she scores lower than the top heroes.

What lifts her score is how she changes. A fiend who starts out caring about no one forms a real bond with Denji, which fans and critics single out as one of the best parts of the series. Later she makes a promise and a sacrifice for him, and a blood contract is involved. That decides it for us: she is a selfish menace who turns out to be a true friend.
