Do we like Naruto Uzumaki?

A character from Naruto (1999–2014 (manga); 2)

Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He's stubborn and goofy, but he's loyal to a fault, never gives up, and tends to win over his enemies instead of just beating them.

Naruto is a mischievous twelve-year-old ninja in training in the village of Konoha. He has a powerful demon fox sealed inside him, so the villagers shun him. He plays pranks and shouts about becoming Hokage, the village's leader and strongest ninja, because he wants someone to notice him.

He is cheerful, loyal and determined. His childish side is also his biggest strength. He is not the most talented ninja in his class, but he never stops trying. His optimism and honest way of talking make people who were cold to him start to care. He also forms close bonds with his teammates, especially his rival Sasuke Uchiha.

We score him high because nearly everything he does comes from empathy. He understands loneliness and pain better than most heroes, and that is why he keeps trying to reach even his worst enemies. He loses a point for being impulsive, loud and sometimes naive.

By the end of the series he has earned the respect of the village that once rejected him. He becomes Hokage, marries Hinata and has a family, which is shown in the epilogue and in the sequel series Boruto.
