Do we like Marin Kitagawa?
A character from My Dress-Up Darling (2022)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's warm, honest and endlessly enthusiastic, and she lifts up everyone around her, with only a little pushiness.
Marin Kitagawa is a popular, outgoing girl at school who secretly adores anime, dating games and cosplay. The story begins when she discovers that Wakana Gojo, a quiet classmate who makes traditional hina dolls, has sewing skills she badly needs.
Marin has no snobbery. She treats Gojo's interests as cool rather than strange, and she's open about her own. She's also fearless about trying new things, and she throws herself into learning to cosplay properly, from the research to the wigs and makeup.
Her flaws are small: she can be blunt, a bit oblivious to personal space, and quick to dive in without thinking. But she's quick to thank and to apologise, and she cares about the effort other people put in. That's why we score her so high.
