Do we like Levi Ackerman?

A character from Attack on Titan (2009–2021)

Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He's cold, rude and obsessed with cleaning, but he fights for his people and looks after his squad. We'd follow him into the worst fights.

Attack on Titan is set in a world where humanity lives behind enormous walls to hide from man-eating giants called Titans. Levi is the captain of a special operations squad in the Survey Corps, the branch of the military that goes beyond the walls. He is small, sharp-tongued and obsessively tidy. He is also widely seen as the best fighter humanity has.

He starts out looking like an aloof, intimidating loner. Over time you see how much he cares. He backs the people he trusts and doesn't leave his squad behind. He is blunt and gruff, but he also shows quiet kindness, often in small moments. He grieves openly for the soldiers he can't save.

Our score reflects how reliable he is. Whenever a plan looks hopeless, Levi is the one you want in front. He is a bit scary and not exactly warm, and some of his decisions are ruthless. But his loyalty and his willingness to carry the cost of hard choices keep him firmly on the side of the good guys.
