Do we like Leon S. Kennedy?
A character from Resident Evil 2 (1998)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes. He's a decent, wisecracking rescuer who keeps going back into the worst places to protect strangers, even when he's tired of it.
Leon first appears in Resident Evil 2 as a new police officer. He arrives in Raccoon City for his first day and finds the town overrun by the undead. He's underprepared and out of his depth, but he steps up to protect the survivors he meets.
Later games make him a US government agent. He's sent after bioweapon threats and into rescue missions, notably Resident Evil 4, where he is sent to retrieve a kidnapped official's daughter. His quips are a way of coping with the horror, and underneath them he's a caring and principled man.
We give him a 9. He's brave and kind, and he's the person you want next to you when things go wrong. He loses a point for the odd reckless call and for the weariness that sometimes makes him cynical.
