Do we like Kyojuro Rengoku?

A character from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019-present)

Our score: 10 out of 10. Yes, easily. He's warm, brave and sure of himself, and he treats protecting the weak as a duty. You'd follow him onto any train.

Demon Slayer follows Tanjiro Kamado, a boy who hunts demons after his family is attacked. Kyojuro Rengoku is the Flame Hashira, one of nine elite swordsmen. He uses Flame Breathing, a style passed down in his family. He is huge-hearted, booming-voiced and endlessly enthusiastic, and he is famous for loving his food.

Rengoku first appears in the Mugen Train story. He is sent to investigate people going missing on a train, and he works with Tanjiro and his friends. He is a natural leader. He is direct and a little intense, but he plainly cares about the people he is there to protect.

He scores a 10 because he does the right thing every time and never wavers. He is strong, kind and motivating, and he sees strength as something you owe to those who are weaker. The Mugen Train story ends with his death. His final stand leaves a lasting mark on Tanjiro, who keeps drawing on it as his own motivation later in the series.
