Do we like Kim Wexler?
A character from Better Call Saul (2015-2022)
Our score: 7 out of 10. Mostly yes. She's loyal, brilliant and fiercely principled in court, but her soft spot for Jimmy gets her into trouble you'd think twice about following her into.
Kim Wexler is a lawyer at the Albuquerque firm Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill. She came up from the mailroom through night classes and has a work ethic few can match. Better Call Saul follows Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer trying to make it, and Kim is his friend, colleague and closest confidant.
She is the show's moral and emotional anchor. Critics often call her its MVP, and many see her as a counterweight to Jimmy's worst impulses. Kim is competent, stubborn and caring. She does genuine good for clients who have nobody else, and she holds herself to a high standard.
Her flaw is that she enjoys the thrill of bending the rules, and she's very loyal to Jimmy. Over the seasons she is drawn further into his schemes and tricks, which costs her. That mix of principle and recklessness keeps her likeable but not saintly, hence a 7.
