Do we like Kathryn Janeway?
A character from Star Trek: Voyager (1995-2001)
Our score: 7 out of 10. A brilliant, caring leader we'd follow into trouble, though her stubborn streak and some very shaky bargains mean we'd keep a close eye on her.
Janeway is a Starfleet captain and trained scientist. She takes command of the USS Voyager on a mission to track down a rogue ship. A strange energy event throws both ships about 70,000 light-years from home, and she suddenly has to lead a crew of Starfleet officers and former rebels on a decades-long trip back to Earth.
She is curious, warm and stubborn. She loves science and her crew, drinks a lot of coffee, and is slow to give up on anyone. Stranded with no support, she often has to choose between Starfleet's ideals and getting home. She usually picks the ideals, and the crew mostly benefit.
Her score is held back because she can be rigid and sometimes reckless. She has made some questionable deals and risky decisions, and she can be hard on people who disagree with her. She still earns loyalty because she carries the weight of every choice alongside her crew.
